HISTORY OF THE MANICS

The Manic Street Preachers were first and foremost a gang, who in 1986 were inspired to form a band by the tenth anniversary of the Sex Pistols. It took another two years for James Dean Bradfield (vocals/guitar), Nicky Wire (bass), Sean Moore (drums) and a certain Flicker (rhythm guitar) to start putting their ideas into practice. At the end of 1989, shortly after the release of a self-financed raging single, "Suicide Alley", Flicker was replaced by original gang member and school friend Richey James Edwards.
