HISTORY OF THE MANICS

Although the three remaining members initially stated that they could not continue the band without Richey, they finally got back together to record Everything Must Go (1996), which turned out to be their most rounded and sophisticated release yet, complete with quasi-Phil Spector productions and string arrangements. Both came together on "A Design For Life", which preceded the album's release as their biggest hit, peaking at #2 in the UK. A quotation from Jackson Pollock on the sleeve summed up the album's stoic optimism: 'The pictures I contemplate painting would constitute a halfway state and an attempt to point out the direction of the future - without arriving there completely'.

With the forcomming single and new album the Manic Street Preachers have returned to tour the UK. Their plan: To perform where we have not performed before. A small collection of low capcity venues have been chosen, so now we just have to wait for the audible on-slaught of the greatest band in the world..........
